CVS

CVS, which stands for Consumer Value Stores, is an American healthcare company that owns pharmacy chain CVS Pharmacy, among many other health-related brands and firms.

The first CVS store, selling health and beauty products, was founded in 1963 in Massachusetts by brothers Stanley and Sidney Goldstein and partner Ralph Hoagland. By the following year the chain had already grown to 17 stores and has continued expanding ever since.

Headquartered in Rhode Island, the past decade has seen CVS add both Omnicare and Target pharmacies to its portfolio. The company ranks in the top 10 retailers in the world by revenue, thanks to its impressive number of outlets and continuing acquisitions of other businesses.
