Catherine Jones in hunt for London store

Jeweller Catherine Jones plans to open a store in London this year, which is expected to lead to expansion across the UK.

The Cambridge jeweller was founded by 86-year-old Catherine Jones in the 1960s and is still family-run. It has appointed property specialist Michael Peddar & Co to source a first west London store measuring 500 sq ft to 600 sq ft (45 sq m to 55 sq m).

Chief executive Vanessa Dowell said she has an ambitious plan to open 25 to 30 stores. She added: 'We are hoping to open the first store by the autumn and that will lead to further stores.'

After London, the company will look to parts of the Southeast before seeking opportunities elsewhere in the UK.
