Pawnbroker Cash Converters has appointed retail veteran David Patrick its new UK chief executive.

Patrick has worked in retail for more than 30 years, with previous roles at sports retailers All:Sports and JD Sports, as well as footwear chain Barratts. He replaces Mark Lemmon, who left in May.

He will oversee Cash Converters’ 138 stores and be responsible for the strategic direction of the business.

Patrick said growth will come from both franchised and company-owned stores. “We are looking at double-digit growth in store numbers by the end of next year,” he said. “There is lots of competition, but we need to remain number one.”
