Bullring flagship for Gifts4All

Gifts and gadgets retailer Gifts4All is to open its first standalone town centre store in Birmingham's Bullring this autumn.

The retailer's other outlets are all in airports or are concessions. Managing director Robert Weiner said the Bullring would be a flagship for the brand, which launched standalone stores in 2001.

Founded as an Internet and concessions business by former Leading Edge directors Weiner and James Crosskey, Gifts4All expanded to five concessions in Bentalls, House of Fraser and Selfridges and three airport shops. Its first full-price landside store opened in Birmingham airport last month.

Weiner said the standalone opening programme would be complemented by more concessions - a further three are planned by Christmas. He said: 'We are looking at expanding the business on the three fronts we've established.'

The Bullring store will also give the retailer the opportunity to introduce new product categories, but Weiner would not reveal exactly what they would be.

The boys' toys and gifts and gadgets market is getting increasingly competitive, with stiffer competition from the likes of the revamped Gadgetshop. However, Weiner said Gifts4All is performing well. 'We're pleased with how it's gone so far, and are hoping to continue the trend,' he said.

He believes Gifts4All has the advantage over its larger competitors of being able to react quicker to trends.
