Sports specialist Nike aims to cash in on New Year health kicks with a campaign on its website. Called #makeitcount, the campaign is linked into Nike’s existing Nike+ training programme, in which participants can track their fitness.

The retailer has a dedicated area on its website for the campaign, which has a clean, fresh look to reflect both the brand and the aspirations of potential customers in January.

Shoppers are invited to use the hashtag #makeitcount to set personal goals and share them with their social connections on Facebook and Twitter. Nike’s products are also promoted subtly alongside the initiative.

The campaign and website aligns Nike in the customer’s mind as an expert resource and essential tool for their fitness regime and, when they come to make a purchase, the retailer to buy their equipment from. The hashtag adds a viral element to the campaign and new customers could be inspired to take part and purchase.
