Scottish carpet and flooring retailer Behar has teamed up with House of Fraser (HoF) to open its first department store concessions.
Behar managing director Martin Slater believes the link-up will take Behar a step closer to becoming the UK's largest independent flooring retailer, with the potential to boost its turnover from£13 million to more than£20 million.
'This is a tremendous opportunity for both Behar and House of Fraser,' said Slater. 'We are a very good fit because HoF's customer profile is very, very close to ours.'
House of Fraser said flooring was not a new category because it already carried own-bought merchandise, but the deal provided the 'best all-round solution for the business.'
Behar has concessions in Reid Furniture and Sterling of Tillicoultry stores, as well as eight standalones. Under the deal, a carpet, rug and flooring offer branded 'Behar at House of Fraser' will debut in 20 stores on October 1.
