Asda is among the British retailers that have taken inspiration from their US counterparts with the launch of eye-grabbing Black Friday promotions.

Bargain-hunters swarmed to Asda stores in search of what the retailer’s chief merchandising officer for George clothing and general merchandise Andrew Moore described as “earth-shattering savings”.

Moore expects the day to be Asda’s busiest of the year so far, and to grow in importance over the next five years.
