Argos ready to extend Direct offer next year

Argos is preparing to increase the number of stores stocking its extended Direct range next year.

The number of shops supplied with the direct offer increased by five last month. Some 10 stores are now served by a distribution centre opened for the task of supplying the extra 4,500 lines to outlets.

However, the 325,000 sq ft (30,190 sq m) centre in Telford is running at a fraction of its capacity and the number of stores supplied is expected to increase to more than 50 by this time next year.

A spokeswoman for the retailer insisted that supply of Argos Direct product to larger stores was still at a pilot stage.
