Ambitious Rose still looking for new positions

Stuart Rose has not ruled out taking on an executive position at another business if his appointment as non-executive chairman of Debenhams goes ahead.

However, he conceded that he would not be able to fulfill a chief exec's role while spending two days a week at Debs.

Rose said: 'I think I have to rule out that I can do that (being chief executive) three days a week, but I don't rule out having an executive position (at another company).'

Permira announced last week that Rose would become non-executive chairman if its£1.5 billion bid for Debenhams is successful. He will be joined on the board by long-standing associate Charles Wilson.
