Sales at ethical e-tailer Adili rose 388 per cent in the four weeks to December 21, compared with the same period in 2006.

Adili, which floated at the end of last year, delivered 2,357 items over the period, compared with 835 the previous year.

The e-tailer said strong trading had continued into its Sale period, which began on December 21.

Adili chief executive Adam Smith said: “Given the increasing share of the retail market being taken by ethical consumerism, together with the continued rapid growth of online retail sales, we remain confident and excited about the prospects for Adili.”
