Debenhams will offer duty-free prices on all fragrances, as well as half-price deals on all men’s formal shirts, women’s designer knitwear and jeans.

Its entire cookware and electrical ranges will also have their prices slashed by up to 50%.

Debenhams’ array of Black Friday offers will go live on its website from 3am, while the majority of its 160 UK stores have extended their opening hours from 8am until 10pm to cope with the anticipated spike in demand.

The retailer is braced for 3 million visits to its website and predicts more than 300 online orders to be placed every minute during peak hours.

It has also drafted 1,500 extra staff into its warehouses, while 40% more drivers have been lined up to help fulfil its next-day delivery service.

Debenhams marketing director Richard Cristofoli said: “Debenhams has traditionally always offered savings to customers on the last pay day before Christmas and the fact that there is now greater awareness of Black Friday as an event is a good opportunity as far as we are concerned.

“Our customers have told us that this week really kick starts the Christmas shopping season and they will be looking for inspiration for great gift ideas with savings that help their money go further.

“Black Friday is known for being an electrical-led event and our customers want it to be that bit more fabulous. We’ve got our best offers of the season on fragrance and designer fashion.”
