HMV is preparing to enter 10 foreign markets, primarily in Europe, via its website as part of an international offensive.

The music and entertainment specialist has an ecommerce site in Ireland and recently rolled it out to the UK. It is now targeting other markets.

A spokesman said HMV’s ecommerce team is “working on a big international push”. The Hmv.ie website is said to “fully internationalised” because it has multiple language and currency support.

Stores in Middle East

As part of its international expansion HMV is also launching stores in the Middle East in partnership with Al Mana Group.

The first store will open in the Dubai Mall next year and it is understood Al Mana has committed investment to ensure it is an “incredible” store.

HMV aims to launch up to 25 stores across the Middle East over the next three years. The retailer is also in talks with partners from Australia and India about similar arrangements.

In the UK, the retailer has recently opened two new stores in Workington and Warrington and is due to open stores in Huddersfield and Telford soon.

HMV also said it is relocating its Westfield White City store to a “better unit”, which is due to open next week.
