Portuguese childrenswear brand Zippy latest store uses clever in-store design and technology to engage shoppers of any age.

Zippy, the Portuguese childrenswear brand, has opened a new store in Porto that is about making a retail space interesting for both parents and children.

That is thanks to the deployment of what design consultancy Dalziel + Pow, which created the interior, has dubbed “soft technology”.

The 2,400 sq ft shop, which sells clothing, accessories and toys for children up to the age of 14, has “pockets of play”. They range from an interactive sound board featuring a cast of bespoke characters, to a machine at the cash register that prints out a fun receipt with each purchase so kids feel included in the checkout process.

The use of a neutral palette with materials such as blonde timber and felt fabric forms a soft, soothing backdrop for product displays, while the signage features elements of bright colour aimed at assisting in-store navigation.

A digital screen has been installed in the shopfront to attract passers by.
