Poundstretcher has recruited former Costcutter executive Bob Marshall as its new finance director following the departure of Roy Ellis.

Marshall left Costcutter in February after nearly four years. His predecessor Ellis served as Poundstretcher’s finance director for two years.

A Poundstretcher spokesperson told Retail Week: “Roy has moved on for personal reasons to pastures new, [it is] unknown where this is at this stage.”

Poundstretcher’s new recruit, Marshall, has also had stints at Baird Group and Matalan.

Ian York, the value chain’s managing director, said: “The past year has seen Poundstretcher go from strength to strength and I look forward to having Bob on board as we continue this over the coming years.”

Earlier this year, York told Retail Week of his plans to revamp the company’s stores and its strategy.

Poundstretcher currently has 409 stores across the UK.
