Oliver Bonas is “digitising its business” by introducing tablets into store and launching click-and-collect.

The retailer is kicking off a trial of tablets and wifi in five of its stores which will act as a mobile till and showcase its full range.

Oliver Bonas founder Oliver Tress said: “The biggest single growth opportunity is online. It offers us diversification opportunities. There’s no limits to your geography or shelf length.  Where we can’t fit something into shops, we can put it online.”

Tress said the 42-store retailer was continuing to open stores outside of London with Brighton its next slated opening. “We’re opening in places with a metropolitan hub”.

He said Manchester and Sheffield were potential targets along with commuter hubs like Tunbridge Wells.

Tress said he was “very excited” about the prospect of taking Oliver Bonas overseas although he said there was no concrete plans to launch stores.  However, he said he was mulling launching further transactional sites overseas after the success of its US and Australian websites.

Oliver Bonas turns 21 this year and is launching a range of party products, such as banners and piñatas, to celebrate.
