The social online marketplace start-up Shopa has revealed it has ceased trading after three years.

A statement on the company’s website confirmed it has closed. The move came just months after it unveiled it had raised around £8.2m in funding.

The statement on Shopa’s site said: “Shopa has helped you discover, share and buy fashion products from wonderful brands in the UK and US.

“However, we are unable to continue to operate and it is with much regret and personal sadness that we have closed our doors.”

Shopa, which was aimed at 18 to 35-year-old fashion shoppers, allowed users to curate a product feed with items and brands of their choice and buying items directly through the site.

The marketplace, which was led by chief executive and founder Peter Janes, had more than 70 retail brands including Paul Smith and Storm London on its platform.
