Waterstones has installed a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory chocolate biscuit window display at its flagship Piccadilly store.

The bookseller is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the publication of the famous Roald Dahl novel.

The 6m x 1.7m installation, based on the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical stage set in London, was designed and created by bakers Biscuiteers and unveiled by cast members Willy Wonka and Charlie.

It took Biscuiteers 300 hours to design, bake, build and decorate the chocolate factory using over 100kg of biscuit dough and 200kg Tate & Lyle sugar. The display will remain in the branch for four weeks.

Waterstones will display 60 x 60cm versions of the chocolate factory at its Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, Greenwich, Chiswick, King’s Road, Richmond, Hampstead and Kensington stores.
