This reporting season becomes more ridiculous by the minute. Sales with or without VAT. LFL's with many differing methods of calculation, period reporting differs from 5 weeks to 13 weeks.... the true story is told when accounts are produced and my bet is we will see some very poor PROFIT numbers. Ian, 'Gross margin guidance' must be the number they have intimated to analysts for calculating year end performance.

Good point well made. The obsession with LFL's is a historical measure which many many years ago was fine because margins were constant with RPM and other restrictive price protections. In 2012 this has no relevance anymore. How about a RW campaign to find a better measure for analysits to pour over?
