Marc Ténart will take over as chief executive of Castorama France following incumbent Véronique Laury’s promotion to the top job at Kingfisher.

Ténart is at present the finance director of Castorama and Brico Dépôt. He will take on his new role on November 3 and will lead the acquisition of rival French DIY retailer Mr Bricolage.

Ténart has been at Kingfisher since 2000, when he joined as Castorama France’s finance director before being made chief executive of Brico Dépôt Spain in 2008.

He was appointed finance director of both Castorama and Brico Dépôt in 2012.

His promotion comes after it was revealed last month that Kingfisher group chief executive Sir Ian Cheshire is to stand down by the end of the financial year to be replaced by Laury.
