Halfords has appointed Jonny Mason as chief financial officer to replace Andrew Findlay, who was poached by easyJet in April.

Halfords has hired Jonny Mason to take on the CFO role

Mason will join the retailer on October 12 and will become a member of the board immediately upon joining.

He is currently chief financial officer at poultry supplier Scandi Standard, which floated on the Swedish stock exchange in June 2014.

Previous to that he was chief financial officer at Odeon and UCI Cinemas for eight years and finance director at Sainsbury’s.

Halfords chief executive Jill McDonald, who recently joined Halfords after previous boss Matt Davies departed for Tesco, said Mason brings a “significant commercial and financial experience from his time across a range of consumer and retail businesses”.

Mason’s other roles include stints at Shell and construction firm Hanson.

He said: “As a cycling and car enthusiast, I have a strong admiration for Halfords and I’m looking forward to working with Jill and the team to build on the great foundations that are in place.”
