B&Q customer and marketing director Chris Moss is stepping down from the retailer five months after the departure of boss Kevin O’Byrne.

Moss will leave the company next month after being hired by O’Byrne two years ago.

It is understood Moss has chosen to leave as new chief executive Michael Loeve, who took up the position at the beginning of the month, sets about building a new top team that will be in place for the long term.

The make up of B&Q’s team has radically changed over recent weeks. Alongside O’Byrne’s departure in May, B&Q commercial director Darren Blackhurst has left the company for Morrisons and HR director Guy Eccles has also stepped down.

During his time at B&Q Moss was responsible for introducing the company’s ‘Unleashed’ marketing campaign in 2014.

Moss was previously chief executive at 118 188 and was responsible for the creation of the Orange telecoms brand.

B&Q UK and Ireland chief executive Michael Loeve said: “He did a fantastic job re-energising B&Q’s advertising and marketing, and we wish him well in the future.

“We are putting together a new, internationally diverse management team at B&Q, with a blend of skills and experience as we build a business where customer needs come first. I look forward to working with the new team to pursue our aim of helping our customers have better homes and better lives.”
