Waitrose ecommerce director Robin Phillips has been appointed by Boots as the health and beauty giant’s director of multichannel.

Phillips, who takes up the Boots role later this month, will be responsible for all aspects of digital, loyalty and IT at the health and beauty retailer, in order “to accelerate the delivery of a multichannel approach across the businesses”, Boots said.

Phillips’ appointment comes amid a reshuffle of Boots’ leadership team that has seen Suzanne Hansen joining as director of healthcare from Walgreens, and Stephen Lehane’s appointment as director of human resources. Additionally, Annie Murphy has been appointed director of trading.

Phillips has worked at Waitrose since 2008, and before that worked at John Lewis for three years. Waitrose said an announcement regarding his replacement will be made in due course.

Alliance Boots health and beauty UK and Ireland managing director Simon Roberts said: “The expectations of customers and patients are changing faster than ever, and they want us to have even more innovative products and services, at great value, delivered by caring and informed colleagues, and through a leading multichannel experience.

“At Boots, we pride ourselves on anticipating and delivering these, and with this new executive leadership team in place I am confident we will continue to further grow and improve the businesses in the UK and ROI.”

A Waitrose spokeswoman said: “We thank Robin for his extensive contribution during his time at Waitrose and wish him very well for the future.”

Phillips is understood to have been placed at Boots by executive search firm Ridgeway Partners.
