Marks & Spencer buying and design director Helen Low is to join Asda as its new general manager for design at George in October.

Low will return to George at Asda after eight years with M&S where she was responsible for the retailer’s Per Una and Limited Collection.

Immediately before joining M&S, Low was at George for three years, preceded by a nine year spell at Next starting as design manager for kidswear.

As revealed by Retail-Week.com on Monday, Carole Boyes-Weston will replace Helen Low at M&S which she joins from womenswear wholesaler High Fashion UK.

Low will report in to George at Asda brand director Fiona Lambert at the company’s headquarters in Leicestershire.

George chief merchandising officer Andrew Moore said the company has embarked upon a strategy to “dial up our fashion credentials”.

Low, who used to present kids TV programme Artifacts, joins Asda in October.
