Cardiff’s St David’s shopping centre and Trinity Leeds are launching click-and-collect hubs with Collect+, enabling customers to pick up online orders from the centres.

The dedicated hubs will allow shoppers to try on their purchases before taking them home.

Centre owner Land Securities and Collect+ have created dedicated service areas in the centres with fitting rooms so customers can pick up online orders and try them on immediately to know if they’re suitable. The hubs are also fully manned, staffed by the centre teams.

Land Securities head of marketing for retail Sean Curtis said: “Significant changes in consumer behaviour means it is vital that shopping centres respond to the needs of today’s multi-channel customer.

“We identified that under a third of our retailers offered click-and-collect in these schemes. This new partnership ensures we continue to deliver best-in-class retail and leisure destinations that are equipped with the most innovative technologies and services.”

The service is already available at St David’s and is set to go live at Trinity Leeds “shortly”. It comes after Westfield introduced the Collect+ hubs at its Westfield London shopping centre at the beginning  of the year.

Collect+ uses a network of convenience stores where retailers can send customer orders to be picked up. Retailers signed up to the scheme include John Lewis, Amazon and Asos.

Collect+ strategic partnerships director Matthew Jacques said:“This is a significant partnership for Collect+ as it continues to move our business on from being just a location-based delivery service, to being destination-based too.

“By introducing CollectPlus to two of the most prominent and popular shopping destinations in the UK, thousands of shoppers will now be able to collect and return their items at a time and location that fits with their day.”
