Online marketplace eBay has re-launched its website with a new contemporary look and feel.

Launched on Wednesday by president of eBay Marketplaces Devin Wenig, the new site aims to provide a more intuitive user experience. The etailer also unveiled its new logo and together with the site, the changes aim to reflect the new eBay.

On the site images are much larger, discount percentages are clearly shown and a range of filter options are available. Product pages show multiple images as well as product descriptions and where relevant, links to retailers’ eBay stores.

Speaking on Wednesday, Wenig hinted at further developments and highlighted the importance of personalisation online “The future of commerce is personal, driven by data. Search results and recommendations are no longer enough. Consumers want insight. And they want personal, curated selection that is relevant to them, controlled by them. Consumers want experiences that are not intrusive but inspiring, experiences that don’t dictate but guide and assist, in ways that feel authentic and natural. We want to make moments of inspiration instantly shoppable. This is what eBay is poised to deliver.”

eBay also launched a trial of “eBay Now”, its same-day shipping service in San Francisco.
