Argos has introduced digital receipts across all 750 of its stores in the UK and Ireland following a trial earlier in the year.

Argos now offers digital receipts in all its stores

Argos will use eReceipt’s technology for the service, which will give Argos customers the option of having receipts emailed to them when buying in-store to provide a digital record of the transaction and any warranty.

The service will also enable Argos to send marketing content with the receipts, which eReceipts claim have an open rate in excess of 70%.

Argos marketing director Stephen Vowles said trials have been “well received by colleagues and customers alike”.

He added: “Customers love it because they feel reassured that they have a record of purchases without cluttering up their wallets, and colleagues appreciate the benefits which enable them to provide an even more convenient service to customers.”

Former Tesco chief executive Lord Ian MacLaurin chairs eReceipts, which competes with yReceipts.

Retailers including Mothercare, LK Bennett and Charles Tyrwhitt use yReceipts’ technology.
