Debenhams is the UK’s largest department store group in terms of outlet numbers, but remains behind John Lewis in turnover terms, despite a recent aggressive expansion programme. In early 2012, Debenhams had a total of 164 stores across the UK and Ireland. Of these, 142 comprised full-line department stores, the remaining 22 being smaller format stores.
