Ted Baker has reported “strong growth” in half-year sales and pre-tax profits, driven by booming performance online and in the US.

The fashion retailer and brand said retail sales rose 20.1% to £168.2m in the 28 weeks to August 15, as pre-tax profits jumped 14.6% to £17.8m.

Ecommerce sales soared 63.6% to £22.9m during the period, as group sales increased 24.5% to £226.8m.

The majority of Ted Baker’s retail sales continue to come from the UK and Europe, where sales rose 14.7% to £120.9m.

But bosses said retail sales in the US rocketed 37.4% year on year to £39.7m during the period.

Ted Baker now has 416 stores, with just under half of those in the UK. It has around 80 in Europe and the same number in the US.
