Outdoor goods specialist Mountain Warehouse has revealed record first-half results and is expanding in the UK and overseas.

Mountain Warehouse said profits had rocketed by 65% to £3.2m on sales up 23.8% to £47.5m.

Like-for-likes advanced 11.8% in the period to August 24, when online sales surged 85.7%.

The retailer, which will open its 200th shop next week, said that its strong performance has continued into the second half and like-for-likes are “positive”.

Mountain Warehouse has been expanding in Poland, where it will shortly open its 10th shop, and delivers to 100 countries.

Mountain Warehouse founder and chief executive Mark Neale said: “2014 is looking to be a record-breaking year and we plan to continue that growth next year, both in the UK and elsewhere, with more new stores, better websites and by ensuring that we continue to deliver great products that represent fantastic value to our customers.”
